The shut down of these services due to Provincial Health restrictions regarding COVID-19 was intrinsically detrimental to our supported individuals. Southwest Day Service Programming was able to restart March 1, 2022 and the difference it has made is more than obvious! Secret Seconds N’ More operations are again alive with workers. Happy chatter and erupting laughter speak volumes as to the positive difference the Day Service Program plays in the lives of each supported individual. Textiles
Unique hand-pigmented textile products ~ 100% cotton canvas placemats, candlemats, table runners and wall hangings ~ in a variety of colours and sizes provide creative avenues of artistic expression for individuals to invest transformation of the ordinary into the extraordinary. Mentoring opportunities to encourage creative exploration, discovery and growth exist for individuals to pursue traditional artmaking disciplines leading to exciting, valorizing exhibition opportunities at the local level as well as within the larger art community, notably the Arts West Council Annual Juried Art Show & Travelling Gallery.

Eco Systems
Killarney/Ninette Recycling
We offer a recycling pick-up service in Ninette every Tuesday, and, assist the Killarney Recycling Depot with sorting of recyclables dropped off by members of the community. We are currently working at the Dunrea and Belmont sites for the new RM of Prairie Lakes as well. Recyclable items accepted in the Ninette community include newspaper, catalogs, magazines, telephone books, aluminum and tin cans, plastic, glass, cardboard and office paper. (All cans, plastic and glass must be washed)
Household Battery & Cell Phone Recycling
In conjunction with Call2Recycle Manitoba we continue to accept household batteries and cell phones for responsible disposal. Call2Recycle® is a product stewardship program providing no-cost battery and cellphone recycling solutions across the Canada and U.S. Operated by Call2Recycle Canada, Inc., a non-profit public service organization, the program is funded by battery and product manufacturers committed to responsible recycling.
Personal Shredding
Personal shredding is accomplished in a secure environment to guarantee safety and privacy of personal information. The fee is set by the pound.
Life Skills
Supported Employment
Supported Employment is a program initiative in which supported individuals are integrated into the workplace through volunteer and employment opportunities. Supported individuals are accompanied with a Southwest professional to their places of employment to ensure that they may achieve greater integration into the workplace and acquire new skills.
Kitchen
This program involves individuals in acquiring a range of culinary skills, which include cooking, baking and following recipes, as well as instilling a working knowledge of Kitchen procedure.
Horticulture
The benefits of horticulture; the beauty of horticulture lies in its accessibility ~ everyone can benefit from engaging in the variety of horticultural activities regardless of age or ability. Every season provides unique horticultural-oriented opportunities and inter-program possibilities, from sowing vegetable seeds in our Seniors Leisure program to harvest for use in cookery in our Kitchen program; to turning flower seeds into petals to cut, dry & press for our exclusive handmade paper products.

Seniors "Without Walls"
Our recently developed Seniors Program 'without walls' ~ a combined Residential and Day Service Program initiative administered through our Day Service ~ embraces a retirement concept focused upon later life daytime options for senior citizens supported in our Residential Program in Killarney. The primary focus of the Program is upon providing life-enhancing experiences, which supported individuals have determined for themselves through choice, by means of a person-centred approach to identify activities and opportunities occurring on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, and that reflect and respect the personal interests, needs and preferences of the individuals involved.
