Our Day Service Program provides a comprehensive choice of meaningful activities designed to meet the evolving needs of the individuals supported within them. We believe that each and every person has something valuable to contribute to the whole. Many opportunities to promote and encourage personal and creative growth, enhanced self esteem, confidence, self-determination and sense of purpose are cultivated in our varied Program areas as individuals invest their energies and sensibilities toward acquiring and developing new skills and competencies.
Art StudioPapermaking
The aim of the Papermaking Program, as with every program offered through our Day Service, is to provide the opportunity for the individuals who we support to engage in meaningful activity toward building competence, and by extension - independence, confidence and enhanced self esteem. Opportunities for choicemaking, self-determination and creative growth related specifically to papermaking processes as well as to personal esthetics exist within the structured program, which features pulp blending, papercasting and project assembly. Beautiful handmade cotton, denim and exotic abaca paper including 8½" x 11" sheets; cards & envelopes; growable, botanical notes; and Gampi Washi ~ originating from the inner bark of the Philippine Gampi bush ~ are produced in this program using traditional and adaptive papermaking techniques.
